When I was approached by She Shreds Media to conceptualize original content highlighting Fender gear, I knew exactly what direction I wanted to head in. We were two months deep into the pandemic and everyone was stuck at home. The idea had to be COVID-safe and informative. Being highly influenced by all things 90s, I realized an homage to Wayne’s World would be the perfect formula to show off the gear, interact with their audience, and also make people laugh during such an uncertain time. I had musician Fabi Reyna film herself at home answering a series of questions. The footage was then edited to appeal to Gen Z’ers. We had Thelma and the Sleaze write an original theme song and boom! She Shreds At Home in Bed was born.
The video garnered over 13,000 views in 24 hours and received hundreds of comments acknowledging the need for lighthearted and intimate content during this rather macabre quarantine. The show’s concept can also extend beyond quarantine, which makes the idea lucrative and timeless.
